I only say that because this past Saturday and Sunday did not feel like a weekend. It was all family all weekend. And, it is to be expected because this week, we are sending off two of my youngest cousins to college, and the other on his two year mission to another country.
In recent weeks, its been hitting me a little everyday that my baby cousins aren't babies anymore. They're all grown up and going off to college and to see the world. I couldn't be prouder of all of them, just sad letting them go.
At the moment, I am a little more than peeved with one of them. Yesterday, my youngest cousin had her high school graduation party, and all the family helped out. I was assigned to the sign in table along with one of my other cousins who will be off to her senior year in Oregon, and B was our little helper passing out flowers to the graduate girls and candy leis to the graduate boys. My other cousin who will be starting her senior year in Washington was assigned to photographer duties. Personally, I thought I should have been taking the pictures while she took my place at the sign in table (as she was complaining about her duties almost the entire time). Don't get me wrong, she was taking good pictures, but failed to make sure everyone had a chance to get their picture taken with the graduate.
One thing I've learned as a photographer and in school is that when you're taking photos at an event, you try your best to make sure everyone there is included and gets their picture taken with the guest of honor. EVEN family who is helping out. There is no favoring one group of people which is kinda what was happening yesterday. But, I'm mostly peeved because she paid no mind to making sure that I was in any of her pictures, let alone getting one with the guest of honor. I was there, working and helping out to make sure everything went smooth, but not once did she say, "Hey T, smile!" or "take one with B."
Of all the photos she took as yesterday's official photographer, I am in NONE. Real nice. Come to think of it, she left out some other key people in the family, too.
Pissed.
What kind of camera do you shoot with?
